Chevrolet

Chevrolet Motor Division is leading division of General Motors producing passenger cars, offroadsters and pickups.

Company was founded in 1911 by Durant the father of General Motors.

At the time he retired from the management of his own offspring, he was actively involved in creation of new car companies. Living General Motors, Durant took with him a project of interesting model and with a famous racing driver Louis Chevrolet (the company was named after him) has made an engineering revision.

The first model - Classic Six - was presented in 1912. It was a spacious five-passenger sedan with electric light, with four doors and a folding top. The model has gained wide acceptance. The famous logo of Chevrolet - bow tie - began in 1914 with one of the models and remains unchanged to this day.

The company has developed rapidly, and by the end of 1917 output amounted to 100,000 cars a year. After the production of aircraft engines during the Second World War the company again reoriented to cars and in 1953 debuts the famous Corvette sports car with a body of fiberglass. The model for about ten years has undergone various design changes before they could make a low-maintenance and reliable car. In the sixties there was no less popular Corvair launched. In the seventies was issued a Blazer offroadster which is widely known in Russia and presently partially assembled in the Elabuge city (RT).
